With less than 10 inches of rainfall annually, Grandview is bathed in sunshine nearly 80 percent of the time. The average temperature is 66 degrees F. The warmest month is July, with daytime temperatures reaching 90 degrees or more. January is the coolest time of the year, with an average temperature of 39 degrees F.

Medical Services: The Grandview area supports several medical clinics, dental offices, chiropractic offices, and an optometric practice. Other medical services include the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, offering both medical and dental care to local farm workers and low-income residents. Full-service hospital care is available through nine different facilities within a 40 minute drive, with two of those hospitals located within 10 minutes.

Municipal Services: Grandview and the rest of Yakima County is served by a 911 emergency response system. Grandview provides its residents with first-class municipal services, including a large fresh water supply, wastewater treatment system, curb-side garbage service, and cost-effective utilities. Our police department includes a chief, 13 full-time officers, and five dispatchers. The local fire department is managed by a paid chief and supported by more than 30 fully-trained volunteer firefighters. Emergency fire equipment includes an 85-foot ladder-truck, pumpers, and a fully equipped rescue vehicle.

Educational Resources: The Grandview School District includes three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Our school district is noted for its excellent programs in basic education, business and agriculture. The district and community fully and enthusiastically support a full range of extra-curricular athletic programs. A Seventh Day Adventist Junior Academy provides a private educational environment to children grades 1 through 9. In 1990, a Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) satellite facility was constructed in Grandview. The YVCC Grandview Campus offers courses in nursing, adult basic education and core curriculum. In addition, the Grandview area is just a short distance from a full line-up of post-secondary educational institutions.

Recreational Opportunities: To complement our full service community and high quality of lifestyle, the City of Grandview meticulously maintains over 70 acres of parks, a community library and museum, and a gleaming new senior citizen's center. Our city is home to more than 20 places of worship, and there are six national and three state historic sites located in Grandview. The Yakima Valley region offers an abundance of sports-a-field, including excellent waterfowl and upland game hunting, fly fishing for trout on the upper Yakima River, and salmon and steelhead fishing on the Columbia River and its many tributaries. In addition, the nearby Cascade and Blue Mountains provide a variety of seasonal outdoor recreational activities such as: downhill skiing, rock climbing, and hiking. The Lower Yakima Valley Golf Club is located just 2.5 miles west of Grandview.
