A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
Situated in the center of one of the nation's finest agricultural
regions, Grandview provides ample opportunity for agri-business. While
Grandview and the Yakima Valley are nationally recognized for the
production of apples, cherries, and hops, we are also rated #1 in
Washington State for overall crop production, providing fertile soil for
over 30 different farm products. The Yakima Valley prides itself as the
leading producer of our state's premium wine grapes. Few locations
in the world are as well suited for classic wine grape production. This
high level of production within our farming community has created a large
and growing food processing business base. There are 11 industries in
Grandview devoted to storing, packing, or processing food. Included is
Kenyon Zero Storage, one of the northwest region's largest frozen food
warehouses, with 602,103 sqft. of warehouse and 16,112 cubic feet of capacity.
Nationally recognized corporations such as Welch Foods, and J.M. Smucker
are also located in Grandview. These industries collectively provide employment
for over 1,300 local residents.
INDUSTRIAL PERSPECTIVE
Grandview has long considered industrial development a high priority. In addition to properties occupied by the 11 major industries currently operating in Grandview, there are
approximately 100 acres of vacant land within the city, prepared, zoned, and available for immediate industrial development. To expedite new development and meet the special needs of a
large food processing base, the City has developed a high capacity water and wastewater treatment system. This system is regularly improved and upgraded in order to maintain its efficiency
and capabilities well into the future. While clearly recognizing the importance and stability of our local food processing industries, the community is also committed to economic
diversification through the recruitment of non-agricultural industries. Through a careful analysis of community assets, the following types of enterprises have been targeted as an
appropriate "fit" for Grandview:
- Medical instruments & supplies

COMMERCIAL PERSPECTIVE
Grandview has two distinct commercial districts. One is centered upon Wine Country Road (formerly Highway 12) and the other is composed of a compact historic downtown business core. The
highway corridor features travel and convenience related businesses with easy access off of I-82. The downtown area, once a regional retail district, has since become a center for
professional offices and specialty retail businesses.
